Should I Buy the Call of Duty Modern Warfare Battle Pass Edition?

An Objective Opinion

In the latest update in the newest rendition of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, Activision has introduced several new features included the “Battle Pass”. Battle Pass introduces 100 tiers of new content including weapons, a new operator and many cosmetic accessory additions.

It also includes 20 custom Epic and Legendary Blueprints for your favorite guns that you currently use and weapons that you have yet to be able to use. Battle Pass adds a “Fortnite” type of feel as they have updated the PlayStation icon on the main screen to reflect “Season 1”, signifying that there will be more content and newer features as they progress from season to season.

So far everything sounds good? “Why wouldn’t I access all these new features?” “Is this free?” The caveat is that the battle pass must be purchased using the new Call of Duty Coins which are purchasable on the XBOX Live Marketplace as well as the PlayStation Store. It costs 1000 COD Points for the battle pass which is the equivalent of approximately $9.99. That's right folks $9.99 for cosmetic upgrades and new objectives. To Simplify your decision if you should purchase this new feature I will list the pros and cons below, and you can make the decision for yourself.

PROS:

- NEW CONTENT, NEW ACCESSORIES, NEW COSMETICS. Like anyone I enjoy playing the skins of my guns to the most bad-ass looking skins so that I can celebrate in my living room when the ending kill cam shows me getting the last kill.

-SKIP 20 TIERS Of Objectives with the Battle Pass Bundle. While this is 2400 Call of Duty points, this provides the instant unlocks for the lazy impatient gamer that wants to get straight to it and start using the new skins. Among'st the instant unlocks are Double XP tokens, legendary blueprints, COD points, and new free weapons.

CONS:

-COST, COST, COST, and oh yeah did I mention COST?! These upgrades with Battle Pass can be very pricey considering you already paid $59.99 for the game, oh and did I mention that the battle pass is only good for one season. It literally has a timer that is counting down the days until season 2 when your current battle pass expires. Just for the basic its $9.99 of your real money to get the battle pass, but that is assuming that you don’t purchase the Battle Pass Bundle with the tier skips that will cost you a healthy $19.99 for 2400 Call of Duty Points. $19.99 is quite an ask for cosmetic additions to the game that don’t include any new maps or any real game functional content. Of course for the hardcore gamer this might make sense, but for your average consumer the price is a deal breaker.

VERDICT:

If you have the extra money to spend, sure why not? If you are cost conscience gamer, you may want to sit the battle pass out. You can still play Campaign, Multiplayer, and Co-Op (my personal favorite mode) with your friends with or without the battle pass. If you just casually play to blow off steam or stay connected with your friends, skip the battle pass. If you are a hardcore multi-year Call of Duty Player, this is a must have. If you haven’t purchased the game yet check the links below for the best holiday deals on Call of Duty and with the savings maybe you can get the game for retail including battle pass if you play it right! Happy Playing! The choice is yours!
